Kes, Goldies And Cat Lane

Sunshine this morning. Hooray! A male kestrel was enjoying it right at the top of the oak tree  that has grown from a hedge sapling which MrQ saved many years ago.

A goldfinch was showing a lot of interest in what looks to me like the remains of a nest, when another bird swooped down and tussled with it. I thought at first that it might be building but I've read that goldfinches are one of the last birds to make their nests. They don't usually do it until April.

This afternoon I planned to take Ollie dog for a splish-splosh walk at Parndon water meadows. Not a cat in hell's chance. Cat Lane, which we use to access them, was a river.
