Life in Sunny Dubai

Grand

I've had something of a first today. Ex- colleague is leaving Dubai for good and at her farewell party (next Thursday night), she is to be presented with a picture taken by yours truly!! How cool is that? The "first" is having one of my images printed and mounted on canvas! Got it done this morning, and I am quietly very thrilled! For us folk who arrived in Dubai pre Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab, the most iconic thing about it is still the Creek. A little "dry brush" effect made it look like a painting. My mind is now buzzing with what the other possibilities could be.

Canvas sorted, we headed to the other side of town to the mall with the ski slope. Another one that sprawls out over a large area and has many distinct sections, I love this roof and it is almost a central point. A large plaque shows the name. Can't help noticing that most of our big malls have 3 levels of shopping.

Came here for a couple of things that my sister SweetArt469 wants for her kitchen, so we enjoyed a good old browse in Tavola which had the glass bowl for her KitchenAid that she's wanted for ages, then called in at Crate & Barrell for the very first time to look for the trifle bowl. What an awesome shop. I do love kitchen shops and always take a look and this one had things I hadn't seen before. Just fantastic AND they don't mind photographs in store. Got what we were looking for there too. 3 jobs done. It's all good (apart from trying/snobby shop assistants).

Came home and our friend from Oman - Hilde dropped in for a flying visit - literally! She flew in around 4pm and got dropped back to the airport at 9:15pm! In between, we chatted and were treated out to a meal (with Proseco) at the Boardwalk!

Late now so off to bed. Last mall tomorrow. Weekend's already started here.
