The Churchend Oak

What a difference a month makes! A gentle autumn left this old fellow in full leaf here https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2771112221860695889 but the chill winds have ripped away his foliage and left him in his winter finest... A nice morning for a walk, up super early (for us) because of shopping deliveries.

The extra shows you how little of him is left, and still he throws up a might crown each year. Long may be survive. I'm seeing a lot of Ash trees being felled at the moment, due to Chalara Ash Dieback fungus infestation and alongside the other tree pests and blights and climate change I wonder what will remain in our parks and countryside into the future.

We're not totally divorced from Europe yet but I see already Honda Swindon have shut down early because their parts are stuck in congested ferry ports. They'll shut permanently next year, largely because of Brexit, just when we need new electric cars to be available tariff free... Still can't believe we were so gullible.

[edit: sorry for sounding so grumpy and bitter. I try not to be.]
