Coastal walk

We met Andrea and Pete in the car park at Warkworth and had a wonderfully sunny walk as far as the Aln estuary, 6 miles return. It was even warm as there was no breeze whipping in from the North Sea. The high tides this year have exposed WW2 defences not seen for many years. They have also destroyed a lot of the dunes the children used to play on.

It looks like the scientists are trying to persuade the government to take a u-turn on the relaxation of restrictions over Christmas. Most people I know had already decided they weren’t going to undo all the months of isolation for one crazy day. It is of course very hard for people living at a distance from family as they have had to rely on zoom etc for so long. We know we are so lucky to be able to catch up with our daughters and grandchildren even if we have had to freeze and get wet in public parks, the beach or a hillside for a walk.
