Searching the mud for morsels

An afternoon jog at Te Takaroa (Meola Reef). A beautifully sunny and almost cloudless day, with little wind. The extra is of the Auckland Harbour Bridge over the top of the growing mangrove forest on top of the reef formed by multiple lava flows from the central Auckland volcanoes.

On the western side of the reef the mudflat was almost totally exposed, and the heron was intermittently stabbing and seemingly catching to swallow some sort of food.
