Tranquil Dawn

I started at around 8.30am and finished at 9.30pm breaking briefly only for food and comfort, but I got it done.

The tyranny of the burgundy and pink combination which once consumed my waking days has been vanquished, and in its place, a new day starts with a Tranquil Dawn.

I’m aching all over, have a banging headache and am disappointed to have lost one of my ceramic origami birds in the melee, but the back room is painted and has been completed before Christmas, so we can enjoy the ‘new’ room over the holiday.

Just a light fitting to change without blowing either myself nor the house up and some new shelves to erect and I should be able to have a bit of a sit down at some point.

Here in the UK, some areas have been moved into a specially constructed Tier 4, whereby if I have read the rules properly; virgin sacrifices are now mandatory (the burning of a wicker man is NOT a suitable replacement) and everyone is to speak in tongues to slow the spread of the new strain a) because the virus doesn’t understand tongues and b) nobody knows how to speak in it either.

The government have finally conceded to what the average person on the street could have told you, that easing restrictions for five days over Christmas so multiple households could mix was a universally bad idea and have failed to see the irony in using “When the virus changes its attack, we must change our defence” when the previous strategy seemed to have been built on “When we take a break over Christmas, the virus will take a break over Christmas.”

I am sorry for those who will miss seeing loved ones, but *chokes on words supporting Tory government* this is the right course of action. We are not going to come out the other side of this thing until we stop playing around the fringes of it.

On the plus side, Christmas will hopefully serve as the last in a long line of sacrifices that have been made over the course of 2020 and we can emerge into the Tranquil Dawn of 2021.

Yeah, I know.

Sorry.
