High Spot

The high spot of the day was a brief spell of light above the cloud, late in the day. I've always like the shape of this tree leaning out over the water as it does, but sadly it's an ash and its days are numbered because of the beetle. The tree seems to catch the sun between its outstretched branches, framing it nicely.

I shot two shot exposures manually, to better judge the foreground and sky tones. It was quite windy and the darker clouds moved quite quickly towards the sun whilst I made my adjustment. Fortunately, the sky in the lighter exposure was white, so I could manually blend in the clouds without too much difficulty, although the reeds poking up might be a touch dark.
