Cardinal on a Cold Winter Morning

The temperatures were in the teens when we woke up, and the birds were hungry. Once again, we had many visitors, both large and small. We have several cardinals who hang out in our yard, and they are a favorite of my husband. He greets the male cardinal each morning: "Hello, Red Bird!!" Yes, there is a tiny speck of something on the cardinal's face; it's a crumb from the chopped peanut he was just snacking on!
