Sunlight on Heather

After the strong winds and rain overnight from Storm Bella, it was lovely to see the sun for a change today. I texted G and we went for a walk through the Country Park and Lowes this afternoon. It was very muddy and slippy, difficult to manage even in wellies. I did like the sunlight on this little patch of Heather. Otherwise a quiet day with a little online sale shopping.

Day 287 / Day 8 of the 4 Tiers (for my record only)
UK deaths up 316 to 70,752 (revised basis), with 30,501 new cases, 21,286 patients in hospital and 1,529 on ventilation (only data for England is being updated every day during the xmas/new year period). Deaths in Germany pass 30,000. The CEO of AstraZeneca told the Sunday Times that 'We think we have figured out the winning formula and how to get efficacy that, after two doses, is up there with everybody else.' More details will be published. A mass vaccination programme started across the EU today, but 1.000 shots in Bavaria might not have been kept cold enough during transit. A new long Covid symptom is being reported of parosmia, meaning people get a strong smell of fish, sulphur, burnt toast and a sweet sickly odour. Some people are also reporting hallucinations, sleeping disturbances and changes to their hearing.
