Walking late

Woke with a stiff back after my duvet must have come off and my bones got a bit cool. Looked out of the window to see a nice coating of snow on the lawn.

Had a decent lie-in and then enjoyed some warmed-up roast potatoes, sweet rollmops and dill and mustard sauce - bit yummy and a nice break from the more traditional Christmas fare.

A late (set off about half 3) walk in the day today after persuading MrH to leave his jigsaw and make the healthy choice of getting some fresh air and seeing the area in what remains of a rare dusting of snow. More snow was forecast for this evening but the air feels too warm outside I just can't see that happening!

This is St.Mary's Mill in Chalford which is down by the River Frome.

After taking this picture we walked past a newly opened wedding dress shop and  through the thick condensation on the window (they need to sort that out pretty pronto I reckon for the sake of the dresses) we could see a group inside chatting who were there to (I assume)  discuss their wedding . . . or maybe they were air conditioning sales people spotting a business opportunity?!

Walked up Dark Lane to see so much water still gushing, quite loudly, all over the place after the floods. Only a few walkers out as it was getting dark but everyone was super friendly with their greetings.

It was rather nice to see all the illuminated Christmas decorations people have put out in their gardens and on the outside of their homes. Walked past Frithwood and then past the Monastery. All pretty calm and lovely to see. My face has a decent glow to it after all the hill walking (not a bad thing!)

Settled home listening to some Christmas choral music which is rather lovely and features only a few of the traditional songs.

Settling down with a bitter orange gin and tonic and wondering if to knit or repair a second hand coat I've bought, decisions, decisions  . . .
