Skeleton

For the first time this winter, the earth really was 'hard as iron' as we walked up to the Common this afternoon. But it was dry and quite still, and good to feel the icy nip in the air.

We went via Kettles Fort and up through the south side of the woods, and spotted this on the way. Possibly a pheasant's skeleton, maybe no coincidence that it was on the ground almost directly below a buzzard's nest - we've seen the great bird of prey coming and going a few times during the last few months.
