A literate swan?

This morning I was super-excited to see that more snow had fallen overnight, especially since we had planned a bird walk for today.

We met the others on Easter Road, with Jack taking the lead as we completed our route around Holyrood Park and Duddingston, with a stop for a picnic lunch beside Dunsapie Loch.

We saw 36 bird species in total: blackbird, bullfinch, chaffinch, coot, carrion crow, tufted duck, dunnock, goldcrest, Canada goose, grey lag goose, pink foot goose, goldeneye, little grebe, common gull, black headed gull, herring gull, jackdaw, kestrel, magpie, mallard, moorhen, pheasant, feral pigeon, raven, robin, starling, house sparrow, mute swan, teal, blue tit, great tit, long-tailed tit, pied wagtail, wood pigeon, great spotted woodpecker. We also spotted a Ridgeback13!

I photographed this literate swan at Duddingston Loch.

It looks like the weather isn't going to be so good over the next couple of days, so I am glad that we were able to take advantage of the sunshine today.

Exercise today: 10k bird walk.
