Stuff and Nonsense

Heron #3

It took us longer to de-ice the car than it did to drive to Spike Island, but when we got to the car park there were only 3 cars there and one of them looked as if it had been there all night. Mind you, it was only 8.30 and it was still -1 degree Celsius. By the time we got back to the car, the car park was almost full.
We were all wrapped up and the sun was on its way up, albeit behind some cloud to start with. We had a lovely walk for nearly 3 hours although the canal was mostly frozen over so there weren’t too many birds about for me.
But we did see a kingfisher - see extras - a very long way off but unmistakeable.
There were a few herons about under the bridge and the regular white egret was looking for food in the melted pools in the sunshine.
A thoroughly nice morning.
