Quod oculus meus videt

Generations

We spent our first day of Lockdown III on animal welfare duty, exercising L's riding partner and the typical chores associated around horses.  I did get out for a walk, crossing L and Meg across the STILL busy road onto the Chase.  It was lovely and sunny, but a keen northerly wind reminded you constantly of the cold temperature.

I bought lunch from Springslade Lodge, where I was asked to take a photo of Kay, the owner and her daughter, Lucy.  Kay has run the cafe for over 20 years and she was saying that when they first opened she has a photo of her with her mother, also from the hatch.  She lost her mother last year so was pleased to get another photo with the new generation working together with her in the kitchen.

She was saying that it was only just after taking on the business, in 2001, that she suffered similar difficulties as now with the Foot and Mouth Outbreak that closed the cafe because people were prevented from visiting the Chase.
