Quod oculus meus videt

White Nancy

First proper walk of 2022.  R and I headed up to the market town of Bollington, in Cheshire and set out along the Gritstone Trail, climbing up above the valley to reach this folly, White Nancy.  It provided sweeping views to Manchester and beyond on a wonderful sunny, but cold day.

We then walked along the Kerridge Ridge before returning along a low level route to the town.  There was evidence of a very light dusting of snow on the high ground but once we were down in the valley it was quite greasy and muddy on the trails.

We finished off with a bacon barm in a small cafe in the back room of a local chippy; we were even treated to a bowl of complimentary chips!  All in all a good first walk of the year, but I was under no illusions that I've lost some of my fitness over the last few months.
