CannyScot's Day

Sledging on the Golf Course

A bright sunny day but very frosty

We had a Zoom Coffee’n Chat meeting in the morning. The beauty of it was we had a lady who had recently moved to England and a friend from Monifieth as well as church folk. I had organised these in the first Lockdown last Spring and felt it would be even more important in Lockdown 2.

Yesterday, I had a young woman of 25 on a Listening Call who was very distressed by the effects of working from home during the Pandemic and never seeing any of her friends. It is so hard for all ages. I am so glad that our resilience has seen us through so far, without us suffering any problems.

We went out for a walk round the Golf Course, thinking it would be safer than the pavements. However, the fairways were covered in icy snow although with boots on, we managed. The greens were like ice rinks and we did see a father and daughter ice-skating on one of them. Not sure it was respecting the green.

At the end of the walk we saw these lads having a great time sledging on a fairway hill. The closer they got to the trees at the end of the hill, the louder their screams got. Oh to be young again.
