Fire bowl

It’s been another day of rain. Snow was forecast, and there has been a half-hearted effort to do so from time to time, but even when the larger flakes began to fall, sodden ground provided minimal chance of survival. We have not been out walking for two days now; a little rain would not be off-putting - but this offers no pleasure.

And so I’m left to search the house for inspiration; very much an outdoors photographer, this provides a challenge - not that that’s a bad thing.

The gloom outside pervades the house, and I decide to light some candles. One gold and red glass candle jar provides a welcome fiery glow - suggesting warmth and light. Today’s image shows the candle lighting up the inside of the jar and its gold-banded rim, casting a coloured glow on the dark wall behind. My extras show some other approaches. Photography in the warmth, not battling the icy winds blowing off the sea as I was earlier in the week. Wet weather has its compensations!
