Lichen.

Wandering round the garden looking for blips I spotted this Lichen up on a branch of the Crab Apple.   One thing I have been promising myself for a while is that I will try to expand my knowledge of Lichens.

Unfortunately this is too high for me to examine closely.  I have decided it is an Evernia, I think I can be fairly positive on that.  I am tentatively suggesting it is E prunastri.  Getting my head round the various names of parts let alone my tongue round them is proving hard enough.
