The portrait bench

The snow has finally gone, although it is still very cold. I wrapped up well and set off for a ride in the winter sunshine. The roads were OK, although I was very wary of any ice that might have been lurking.
These sheet steel portraits, known as the 'Portrait Bench', stand alongside the Nidderdale Greenway cycle track. Each figure represents a local individual who has in some way contributed to the community. They look best viewed low down and against the sky like this. I did try to avoid having the sun in the shot, but that would have meant getting very wet feet!
