Life in Sunny Dubai

Frosty

It is 12.1.21 today, a palindromic date. :)) SweetArt beat us all in the morning.

It's been a much needed at-home day hence the blip of the snowflake lights that I haven't had the heart to take down yet. G had a Zoom meeting with her senior's group where she had a cooking lesson by a Japanese chef from a high-end restaurant here. Everyone was asked to send in a "thank you" video so we did that - in the kitchen. It took over thirty minutes for one minute of video.

That done, she had another Zoom call, this time to teach but it got cancelled. I was happily sailing into the evening when I remembered we had another Zoom meeting... this time an online Bible study led by the new pastor the church hope to employ. I wish I'd read the email properly. We logged in at the time the Tuesday evening Bible study would normally start to find out it was already halfway through. Oh well. Nice to know that the candidate is very sound and down to earth.

And if all that Zooming wasn't enough, we ended the evening by watching a recording of a Zoom meeting we missed in November... Tearfund highlighting the work they do with cocoa farmers in West Africa. They had mailed a box of samples for each of us for a tasting session which was part of the meeting. The boxes were only received last week which is better than not arriving at all. The chocolate in it, a 70% bar of Divine, a 65% bar made for Waitrose, a Tony Chocolonely bar and a packet of chocolate nibs - all delicious. I didn't know that sales of chocolate had shot through the roof during the lockdown, so the request is to do your best to buy fairtrade at the very least. Not easy to do in Dubai, but I shall be more alert in the future.
