Deep in the Forest

In a normal year we'd be going to the Swedish mountains for a long weekend, somewhere around now. But such gatherings, though not actually banned here, are discouraged and, to put it mildly, seem unwise.  However, a meeting in the outdoors, well-organised, seemed like a fun idea and Kikki and Lasse invited us and another couple to their forest to eat bacon pancakes (kolbullar), cooked over a fire.  It wasn't too cold, around -7°C, but we wrapped up really warmly. In fact the first thing I did when we arrived was to take off my jacket because I was so warm!
As usual we guys all wanted to do the fire! I was impressed with the long handled frying pans and will be keeping my eyes open for some to buy.
It was so lovely just sitting in the quiet forest and chatting, as we cooked and ate the pancakes with lingon sauce, plus biscuits, Jägermeister, mulled wine, fruit cordial and coffee as the hours passed. After 3 hours it was starting to get dark and our feet were getting a little cold so we walked the ten minutes back to the car and said thank-yous and goodbyes.

Definitely something to be repeated.
PS yesterday's blip has just gone up too!
