As luck would have it, the office servers refused to co-operate with any of us today and so there was nothing for it but watch the CNN live feed from Washington. I even watched the Grand Oompa Loompa leave. What a treat! And Joe kindly waited for the orange silliness to step off the World's screens before stepping onto them himself. The timing was so perfect I almost wanted to shout “He's Behind You!” But of course waiting for the Clown Prince meant that the scheduled inauguration coverage began 20 minutes late.

While the majority were at church and the last family were in the skies I took a look at Mar-a-Lago on satellite view. Have you ever done that? I think you should treat yourself. What on Earth is going on with those shadows? Someone seems to be making very sure that there isn't anywhere the sun don't shine.

And back to the Capitol where 200,000 flags took the place of human crowds and realising that each of those flags stood for two American deaths from Covid was shocking.
