Desperately seeking

Somewhere In There

It was a reasonable day today, not the forecasted snow and thankfully, no flooding as some poor folk have endured this week on top of the Covid anxiety. I really feel for them.

I am still busy decorating so The Man took the secateurs and a step stool out and uncovered the bird box. The ivy, left over from decorating the venue for #1 Daughter's wedding 11 years ago, had completely covered this tree stump AND the concrete bird nest box. Down the years it has been a home for great tits, mice, bumble bees and now, snails, woodlice and earthworms. They were being hopeful of finding a home, 6' above the ground!

We are relocating the nest box before birds start looking for a nesting location. They wouldn't have found it here. In any case, all cleaning of nest boxes must be done before the end of this month then there is no chance of disturbing a nesting bird.

The box is being moved as later this spring the tree stump has to be cut down to make way for a summerhouse larger than our current 35 year-old shed. That will be an interesting job.

It was my birthday all over again today with the arrival of a delayed present of some lovely sheepskin slippers. A celebratory piece of Christmas cake was called for! Then to add to that, a lovely catch up message from a Blipmate who I first arranged to meet in 2010 before Blipmeets had been invented! The metaphorical icing on the cake was a financial hand-out for our businesses late this afternoon!
