Fruity

My fieldfare has had a busy day warding of the fruit thieves which were a constant annoyance but size was on his side and he defended his tree with vigour!

Other fieldfares and pesky redwings especially caused him to fly across the field where he kept watch, streaking like a bullet furiously chattering his 'schack-schack-schack' in high dudgeon at the trespassers. He'd then wait a bit looking round, have a few berries, wait a bit more then fly back over the field.

I have to say seeing the snow this morning was wonderful but it's all gone now and what a thrill to be able to do covert ops, snug in the breeze house with a long lens, on this migrant thrush from northern Europe.
