Starting small .

A small cluster of snowdrops, transplanted from what was the family home in Leicester. This will be their second season in Blackburn, a different, damper climate . In time they should spread which will be delightful.

Our friend who was a civil engineer and who has also renovated quite a few houses in his time popped round to look at the cracking situation on our gable end . He has suggested that we repair the cracks with a weak mortar to give us an idea of how much movement is happening at the moment . It’s a starting point and as we suspect that the water leaking in through th3 bathroom ceiling is due to rain being driven through weakness around the bathroom window, we can perhaps have a go at both jobs .
It’s a royal we , I shall be the ‘gopher and / or grunt ,’depending on what is required . My skill set lies elsewhere but I am happy to be the apprentice and develop some other skills .
Whilst thinking of royalty I am enjoying watching The Crown .
The interplay between the crown and the government is fascinating as well as seeing how some of the major events ,such as the Suez crisis fit together. I shall now remember the order of the first three prime ministers that advised the young Queen .In some ways it’s those elements that interest me the most .
Now to go and do some more - sorting and organising !
