Moving Market

Since we arrived, there has always been a "Farmer's Market" located on the street next to the Merza grocery store. Fish vendors lined up on the west side and produce vendors were to the east, with a lane of traffic passing through the middle. It was always exciting shopping while attempt to dodge the taxis and trucks that often passed within a hair's breadth. I never saw anyone get clipped, but someone must have complained because when I took our friends to show them where to shop for the freshest products all the vendors had decamped to the new Campensino Mercado Municipal, located at the end of their former home. Change is often difficult and many of my favorite vendors did not look happy in their new spots. The market is definitely more congested, but there are now bathrooms available and it is obviously safer not having traffic passing through the middle of a bunch of pedestrians. Time will tell if the move proves to be successful.
