Hot water beach

We are staying on the Coramandel peninsula and this is the famous Hot Water Beach.

At low tide at the end of the beach it is possible to dig a hole to reach hot water springs and then you can sit in the hot 65 degree water to your hearts content.
No spade? No worries you can hire one for 5NZ$, you can buy an egg to cook as well if you want! We were there for elevenses and low tide wasn't until 3.55 so we had to give it a miss.
Instead we walked to Cathedral Cove. Quite a pull but well worth all the steps to a magnificent arch in the rock through which you could walk to Cathedral Cove itself.

The Coramandel is lovely like everywhere else we have been. Beyond Coramandel town the scenery looked very Scottish but we didn't have the time to venture further.
We had an up grade at our motel when we arrived last night and we have an upstairs room with its own Spa pool on the balcony ( hot tub). We've never tried one of those before so we did-it felt very extravagant but we might do it again tonight!!
