Rising

An exciting trip across the Lake to Continente (Portuguese supermarket) for groceries, just caught this heron flying off. The water is rising, which is wonderful and unsurprising, as we've had constant rain, heavy and light, day and night, for a while now.

The great news is that Mike got my new phone working by manually uploading the essential bits, not including any of my WhatsApp chats, which feels a bit strange. But must say, it's rather wonderful to have a phone that works properly and has all sorts of fun new features, and I'll be able to download apps like Blip now as well.

Gratefuls:
- wine fair at Continente, with great wines at 70% off; Alentejo wines are already such good value
- Mourão now has only one person with the virus
- the birds singing in the rain, in the bay tree outside our door (unlike the poor sheep who are still standing around looking miserable)
