Old boatyard buildings

L3 Day51 - A snowy walk in Teddington around the Teddington lock area. I passed two old buildings which were both part of Toughs Boatyard. The Wharf Restaurant, a big favourite of ours, is an old building now surrounded by large blocks of flats. Toughs Boatyard built many vessels including launches for the Admiralty but it most notable for assembling and fitting out over 100 boats used in the Dunkirk evacuation in WW2. By the 1990s the boatyard was in decline and was redeveloped into many luxury flats . The Teddington Lifeboat is also housed there. Another building in Ferry Road, nearer the Lock ‘The Boathouse’ (See extra) was also part of Toughs. It now houses offices as well as a chandlers shop.
