Sleeping

I went to The Garden today for my walk. I feel a bit limited in choosing which walk to do in these snowy times since most  of them involve walking on narrow field roads in order to do a full circle. All those field roads are now completely filled with knee-deep snow, levelled with everything else on the field and can not be either seen or used. I don't have any skis so I'm bound to the roads at the moment, walking there and back, following the same trail.

We've had strong winds and more snow the last two days and there is more coming. On a flat landscape like Öland that usually means that the roads  gets filled with snow very quickly and traffic is having great difficulty. The snow ploughs appreciate if cars stay out of the roads as much as possible, there are quite a lot of accidents where cars have got stuck somewhere or slid off the road  in the muddy snow.

Entering The Garden is therefore a very peaceful experience. Tall trees are surrounding it so it's almost wind free in here and the stillness, helped by the thick snow is very special. Everything is quiet, the occasional bird is making a sound sometimes but otherwise -nothing.

Spring is not far away. In a month we will see early signs of a new season starting.
