The Lozarithm Lens

Diary Blip (Monday 8th February 2021)

I was targetted several times in 2020 by rogue builders trying to scam me and was advised by Trading Standards that I was probably on a so-called 'sucker list'.

I contacted the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust who offer an excellent advisory free-of-charge service (donations welcome) to address security concerns.

A Bobby Van came on Monday morning and the officer spent over three hours here giving helpful advice and attending to all sorts of issues including CCTV, new smoke alarm and carbon-monoxide detectors and planing the edge of my front door, which had warped so much that it wouldn't close or lock properly. He also put new locks on the doors to the porch and to the outside using superior Era mechanisms, in line with current standards.

These stickers are rather unsightly but might help deter future unwelcome visitors.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Supremes featuring Mary Wilson - Come and get these memories (recorded 14-24 June 1966, Hitsville Studio A, Detroit MI, for Motown)
R.I.P. Mary Wilson (6 March 1944, Greenville MS – 8 February 2021, Las Vegas NE)
Mary Wilson was the only member of the Supremes to be there at the start and the finish, though after being signed to Motown she very rarely had a lead vocal (and indeed wasn't always on all the records as Motown would use session singers for back-up vocals when expedient). When Diana Ross left to be replaced by Jean Terrell in the seventies she shared lead vocals with Jean Terrell on the singles  Floy Joy and Automatically Sunshine, and sang lead on some album tracks.
This version of Martha and the Vandellas' 1963 hit with Mary Wilson singing lead was recorded for the 1966 album Supremes A' Go-Go.
On the stereo album the vocals were in one channel and the instrumentation in the other, so sounded rather odd especially on headphones, so this is a remixed version released in 2008 with Mary Wilson front and centre.
