The Big Chill

The big chill continues...it was still very cold this morning, I had 3 layers on and my hat and gloves for the morning walk. There are still bits of snow lying around, the water in ponds is still frozen, and we are seeing the most spectacular ice hedges caused by the spray when cars drive through a puddle - see extra.

This morning we went to walk at a local common that we have never walked at before, as it is always so muddy there, but with the frozen ground it was a good choice to walk there today and be free of mud. Bookham Common has a series of ponds and all of them were frozen - at one point on the walk Xena walked some way onto the frozen pond and we quickly called her back because if the ice broke I am not sure who would go in to rescue her! No need to panic though as it was pretty solid.

Last night we enjoyed our seafood platter that we had ordered for Valentines Day. It was rather expensive but as it was a treat for the special occasion we thought that was fine. However, despite the food being delicious it was lacking in crustaceans and other items as indicated on their website - so it certainly was not good value and as a result I sent off an email to complain, something I don't often do.

Tomorrow it gets warmer (all relatively speaking of course, 13C in winter is considered quite warm!) so hopefully this big chill will be over.
