An ordinary life....

Dodgy start but happy ending...

Well I am glad we had our lovely Valentines dinner last night as today's plans have gone a bit awry.

David had planned to meet up with Lola's pal Holly the Boxer and her dad Steven  at 8.30 this morning to walk the dogs.  When David stepped outside just after 8am he was met with a driveway that was sheer, thick ice (and it had been cleared and salted). When he checked, the pavement and the road outside the house was exactly the same, and there was solid ice all over the car.

He contacted Steven to say he didn't think driving on the back roads was a good idea, and was just texting Alan's support worker Vickie to tell her to be careful on the roads on her way here, when he received a message to say she'd skidded on black ice, crashed her car and written it off.  Thankfully, she's ok, which is the most important thing.

So it's been a day of just the three of us.  And the rain came and the thaw began and water started coming in the door to the garden in Alan's bedroom and one of the living room windows.  Oh they joys of living in a 121 year old house!

As a result of all of this we had a very late lunch and now we are about to have a very late roast chicken dinner!

But if the day got off to a bad start, it is ending on a happy note.  Our Goddaughter Emily and her boyfriend Sam have announced their engagement.  We are over the moon for them!  Just so sorry that we can't hug and celebrate with them just now.  But we will.  An engagement party and a wedding to look forward to.  My spirits have soared!  :-))

And now that my water drop kit has been retrieved from the loft, I am afraid these kind of shots are going to feature regularly, well at least until I get the collision shot I am aiming for.  It's quite addictive!  More in extras.  I'm not sure if the spots in the background are splashes on the background paper or spots on the lens / camera sensor.  I am awaiting new backgrounds so will soon find out if that's the problem.

Ok, time to get the roasties out of the oven!

Note to self - Rennies on standby at bedtime.
