In the wild wood

A lovely outing this morning with Eben, Ruth and Luca - back along the Rivelin Trail, but to a corner we have rarely visited together before.
Eben was in a mood to be enchanted by the wood, with its stony remains of 18th-19th century industry.  This was the site of a vast wooden water wheel that once drove belt-powered grindstones for toolmakers. E spent happy times just poking around in the mud and looking into dark, damp places.
Luca has settled back into a routine with me, now that we're meeting outdoors more regularly.  We've learned to be playful together within the distancing norms, and he no longer cries when we say goodbye. This is a relief...
I see that my hasty phone edit has done some strange things to the image colours though :-)
