A time for everything

Wednesday
The temperature was 5F ( -15C ) when we first got up this morning, but the sun was shining from a clear blue sky, so it was a beautiful-looking day, the snow glistening in the sun. We gave it a chance to warm up a bit, then bundled up warm and headed out to Sharon Woods late morning. We started with the gorge trail, as we knew the little waterfalls would be all icy, with lots of icicles. Everywhere you looked was just so beautiful. At one point, the gorge trail runs alongside a fence separating it from the park’s golf course - obviously no golfers today, but there were two cross-country skiers! At the end of the gorge, we continued on along the stream, past another couple of low waterfalls. Returning through the gorge, we went on to do part of the trail round the lake, but we didn’t do the whole loop today, finding trudging through the snow quite tiring! We spent the rest of the afternoon, relaxing at home in the warm, thankful for our heating and power, which so many people in Texas have been without the last few days!
