Last night our dinner from the catering company was absolutely delicious. The only fault was that we need to work on our presentation skills, getting that Master Chef ability to artfully decorate the plate with the carrot puree and then drag the back of a spoon through it! We will use them again, possibly for Luke's birthday next month - seeing that his last birthday was in lockdown and we also could not celebrate that one! It's a sad state of affairs when it is coming up for your second birthday in lockdown, but hopefully by then we can have a lovely family meal again. It seems to be the new thing now for good restaurants/caterers to deliver these dinners that are mainly cooked but which require some finishing off so that the meal is hot and freshly prepared as in a restaurant, I think this trend will continue after lockdown. Most items had to be in the oven for about 20 minutes and the sauces and jus were in a bag that had to be warmed up in a pot of boiling water.

For a change of scenery we went to walk at Bushy Park this morning - it was sunny but very windy, and although the temperature was about 16C it felt colder in the wind. As we got there late I did not expect to see many deer around but we came across a large herd - Xena was on the lead and Gavin took her off in another direct while I took some photos of the deer. It is tricky to get decent shots of them - by positioning myself correctly I managed to isolate this stag from the rest of the herd, as I find group shots of the herd quite boring. I was also hoping to see the swans courting, but did not expect to see any as it was now late in the morning - so imagine my delight when I found a few pairs canoodling amongst the reeds - see extra. It was a lovely outing and I feel all the better for seeing something different again - not sure why I haven't been there yet this year as it is not far from home.

We picked up some sushi from Waitrose on the way home for lunch so that was a treat. They have a sushi counter there where they make it fresh to order, although they do have some trays already prepared.

After editing photos all afternoon it is now time to go make dinner.
