Merton Abbey Mills

This is day 85 of my streak of daily photographs. And, it’s the second day in a row where I will write, I’ve been here before. On 28th January we walked to Merton Abbey and I snapped a picture of the waterwheel.

It was a little busy on that visit. It was the bank holiday Monday after Christmas, not long into this lockdown, and the pubs here were serving takeaway drinks.  I guess, for some people, it was a nice excuse to leave the house and have a beer.

We’d come for a takeaway Noritaco, a Japanese themed taco filled with rice and a delicious topping. The shop was closed in December so we didn’t didn’t hang around with the crowds but it was open today so we indulged.

Strictly, I think we were supposed to bring them home but they are small and, while there was nowhere to sit, they could still be eaten warm in a couple of mouthfuls.  There was nobody around as the day was cold and overcast & the walking routes muddy. We also enjoyed an Orange mulled wine takeaway from one of the restaurants that was using a side window as a serving hatch.   PY commented that the KFC across the way had a never-ending queue of cars waiting to be served.  It seems everybody is after a little takeout treat today.  We ended up walking six miles so were quite glad for the food to give us energy to get home.

Home in time to prepare for he valentine’s dinner.
