Halfway to Almost Heaven

When we get to Sideling Hill, our long trip is half over. I found this info on line. “The Sideling Hill Road Cut on Interstate 68 and US 40 is a 340-foot (100 m) deep notch excavated from the ridge of Sideling Hill, about 5 miles (8 km) west of Hancock in Washington County, Maryland. It is notable as an impressive man-made mountain pass, visible from miles away, and is considered to be one of the best rock exposures in Maryland and the entire northeastern United States.” You can look it up to get more interesting info about this beautiful spot. The pedestrian overpass let’s you get better views of the rock formations. The shadows hide part of the layers. We were delighted that my sister got the go ahead to leave town. It usually takes at least three hours to pack and close up the house; today took an extra hour. Temps got up to 64 deg F and it was partly sunny. What a perfect day to travel. We have been on the road 6.5 hours and have about two hours left. We’ll be unpacking our over loaded car in the dark but their driveway is well lit. The rain just started; that will make the task a bit daunting. This could be my last entry for awhile. Thanks for your notes of concern and stars. I think the BP is responding well to the new meds. The shoulder will have two glorious weeks to heal so life is grand. Enjoy folks.
