Majestic swans

Wednesday
We reached the giddy heights of 61F (16C) today under mixed skies. Roger had some errands to run in the morning, so it was this afternoon before we got out to Fernald Preserve, for some exercise and bird watching. Lodge pond is now beginning to melt, and there were masses of water birds on the water or the ice. Many were the ubiquitous Canada Geese, but there were also many Red Headed ducks, as well as Buffleheads, Gadwall, Canvasback, and Ring-necked ducks. Whilst I did get some photos of many of these ducks, they were at full zoom, and not in clear focus, so for my. Blip I chose these two majestic swans. Having watched the birds with binoculars for quite a while, we decided we should start walking. Unfortunately, by this time the clouds were looking rather threatening, and we hadn’t gone very far before there was a clap of thunder and it started to rain, so we beat a hasty retreat back to the car!
