Missed!

A very springlike morning, although with quite a fresh southerly breeze. The first frogs arrived back in our garden ponds, and the lesser celandines were sparkling in the morning sunshine on our sheltered east-facing bank.

Having recently brought back some long neglected pots from Molly's house, Pete and I decided to visit Notcutts to purchase some cheerful Primula plants to brighten them up. We found a lovely selection in shades of salmon, gold and orange and managed to get through the rest of the store without purchasing any impulse buys!

We then drove the short distance to Ferry Meadows and had a long walk round the park keeping a watch out for the avocets and sand martins that had been reported the previous day. Sadly, they had gone, and there was surprisingly little bird life generally, but we spent a few moments watching this heron fishing. Although not in perfect focus, I quite liked this shot where the heron appears surprised that its beak is empty!
