Life's Little Moments

Dapper Little Dude

I think that the white-throated sparrows are our most dapper winter bird - the crisp white bib, the jaunty yellow brows, the contrasty stripes on the head, the soft gray chest...  And add to that they lovely whistled Old Sam Peabody song, and well...yes, hard to beat.  And in a few short months, they will be gone as they head north to their breeding grounds.

It's been a nice day, starting with a long chat with my parents this morning, then a zoom call with the director of the long term care facility where MIL lives, and two more calls with friends.  A very social day, in this Covid era.  The news from the care facility is good as they have been over six weeks without a case of Covid in staff or residents and are finally moving from Red to Orange.  This means Hubs can now visit in person twice a week and SIL can visit in the plexiglas booth.  Big steps forward.

This morning, bestie Kura got her second jab and is now on the final stretch to full vaccine coverage.  And, in a complete surprising bonus, other bestie Peg and her husband were both able to be vaccinated in Virginia at her dad's care facility this weekend- that was a huge surprise and very exciting.  Third bestie, Ellen is scheduled for dose 2 this Friday.  I know so many more people now who are getting vaccines - it finally feels like we are making progress.

Hard to believe that we are already two months into 2021.  And the official start of Spring is just 3 short weeks away.  Not that you could tell by looking out our window at the blanket of snow that remains.  But still...

Continue to take precautions to stay safe.  Continue to be kind.  And today I am recommending dark chocolate with mint (just to change things up a bit).
