Dog statue

It seems spring has gone into lockdown, only allowed out for a few moments at a time - it was cold and damp today, so boring to have grey skies again. I like how Xena was sitting here during our morning walk - I think she was watching another dog in the distance - and in the extras she looks like one of those statues that flank the doorway of a country manor house.

We had an enjoyable book club zoom meeting last night, talking about everything other than the book - of course Covid, vaccines and lockdown are always the main topic of conversation, followed by the shenanigans of Nicola vs Alex - she is not popular down south! As for the ex-Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it was unanimously agreed that none of us would watch that vile woman on ITV on Monday night being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey - how she can even compare herself to the lovely Diana is a joke, and her treatment of the royal family is quite appalling. You can see that our book club has a very serious discussion about the book we have read....

Gavin is going for his vaccine later today - he could have had it on the weekend but then that meant his second date would be when we are in Norfolk for a few days in May, so he chose a later date instead. In discussing the vaccine last night 'at' book club I never realised that once vaccinated one can still get Covid so I guess that means masks will have to be worn and social distancing practiced for a long time yet to come. So boring...

Tommy is working 10 -11 hour days on his studies but that is what is necessary for a student at Cambridge University - he has a demanding schedule with lectures, supervisions and practicals, all online. His friends at other universities are all back at their respective universities, and having a wonderful social life with minimal work and plenty of parties (and fines!). I suppose in a way this illegal socialising is a good thing as it is one way of building up herd immunity amongst the sector that are at least risk of being seriously ill with Covid, and we need herd immunity to be built up as soon as possible.
