a lifetime burning

Blossom

A dark and gloomy day here, which gave little encouragement for outdoor photography.  I've been playing around in the photo editing software this afternoon, in part to try to get a better understanding of what various layer and mask blending effects can achieve.

As a base from which to work, I was using a picture that I took of the start of the footpath up to the old Stantonbury Hill Fort and, for no reason other than this sort of sums up my day, here is a copy of one end result that I rather liked.  I was aiming for this sort of watercolour pen and ink effect, which reminds me of the sort of thing that you might have seen in books when I was growing up.
