The accidental finding

Weekend walking #1: Miserden

GG and I walked on the Miserden estate, some seven miles from Stroud. The entire village, apart from the pub and church, is owned by the Miserden estate. As such, it is very well-maintained and has an air of Midsomer/National Trust neatness. The 'big house' and its gardens are closed, as is the plant centre and cafe, but walking on the estate is permitted, and the footpaths are in good condition.

I wanted to find the lake, which I had only recently heard of. It's a large man-made lake, with a central island, at the bottom of a wooded valley. We found a bench and had a cup of tea from my flask, and my first creme egg of the year, provided by GG. The directions for the circular walk, which I had downloaded, were excellent, and we returned to the village, where we bought home made jams and preserves from a stall by the side of the road. After a little wander around the rest of the village (there's even a dentist!) we returned to Stroud via Bisley and Eastcombe, just as the weather was turning cooler. Next weekend we may attempt to find another lake.

In other news, I finished the Japanese-themed jigsaw this morning. I'm going to see if I can add it in extras. I've never done this from the app before.
