A time for everything

In person worship!

For the first time in just under a year, we were able to go to in-person worship! Some churches have returned previously, but our church was being very cautious. Since our church is a largely older congregation, most people there would already have been vaccinated. We’ve had one shot, and get our second on Tuesday In addition to that, every other pew was taped off, and the pews in use had tape half way along, so no more than one family group sat in each half. Masks were worn, there was no in person choir or praise band - their segments were pre-recorded. At the end we were dismissed from the rear, row by row, and directed out in one way direction. In normal times of course, there would be coffee and cake/cookies afterwards, but we can’t do that, so instead they had little plastic bags to pick up, containing two cookies! It was also a communion service, and this was done using tiny individual plastic cups of grape juice with a wafer on the top, which we picked up as we entered. So still very strange compared to how it used to be, but it just felt so good to be there in person again, and being able to see people and wave, exchange a few words in passing, and perhaps bump elbows! The service was still live-streamed as well, for those still uncomfortable, or unable to come. From my blip, it may seem as if there were only six of us there (!), but it’s only showing one side of the aisle, and most people were behind us.
When we got home, we had a chat with my brother and sister-in-law, then I made some butternut squash soup in my soup-maker for lunch, before going out hiking at Rowe Woods - another beautiful sunny day!
