Ape

Angie had to take off early to GP this morning so I did morning dog walk which suited me fine as I had a couple of things to buy and get into post today to make a deadline. So Ottobeuren was our destination.

Lovely Schickling walk before hitting town. Angie asked me to drop into the Chemists to ask if they were doing Corona Quick Tests which officially from today every citizen is entitled to have once a week. Not Home Test but ones carried out in chemists, GPs etc. And not the free full Tests that we can book online at a local drive-in test centre for anyone wanting/needing one,  but these are only for people without any symptoms e.g. people who may need a certificate to fly, cross a border etc.

It was announced just the other day and nobody is set up. Seems ridiculous to swamp GP's with this burden and chemists will need to set up an extra room or indeed hire a room to carry out the tests. Apparently the test devices are available in more than sufficient quantities, just not the means of doing them. Germany is suffering from their in-born need to get everything 200% right before doing anything - this is most noticeable in the vaccine roll-out. As soon as there is any doubt, things stop which happened on huge scale with the AstraZeneca vaccine. Huge stockpiles as people don't want it after the catastrophic PR by AZ from the pre-launch period Nov/Dec 2020 and the missing, contrary data provided. Nobody has said it is a bad vaccine, indeed the government standing 100% behind it. But Germans don't always trust their politicians!

In the market square, the ice cream cafe or better said their pavement sales counter was being prepped for the midday rush. Lovely sunny day but still very cold. I took a video of the display cabinet but despite being asked which one I wanted, I turned down the offer.

At the same time this lovely Italian Ape 3 wheeler roared past. I would love to have one, but they have cult status and very high used prices. Judging by the flag , the driver is a fan of Bayern Munich Football Club.
