Abstract Thursday - Mystery

This started out as an image of a fallen tree where the bark had been stripped way to show the grain of the tree with its stubby branch sticking out. As it was wet the grain was even more apparent. Using liquify and a bit of 3D extrusion I tried to create something a little more macabre
