Meridian marker

My weekly trip to Lewes with the spaniel provided an opportunity to blip another Greenwich Meridian marker. There are at least six markers in Lewes, four of them on Western Road. This cast iron plate was set into the pavement outside number 101a (E. E. Goacher Upholsterers) in 1975 to mark the tercentenary of the Royal Observatory. It sits below another marker in the form of a metal wall plaque, also inserted in 1975. Next door was a pub, originally called The Pewter Pot but renamed as The Meridian in 2000. In 2010 the pub was knocked down and replaced with a rather ugly block of houses called Meridian Row. Directly opposite the wall plaque is number 74 Western Road, also known as Meridian Cottage. Previous marker blips herehere and here.
