Flowermageddon

The girls were well looked after today. I was already thinking about a “daughter’s day” as suggested by thoughtful blippers. I bought some flowers, chocolates for Doreen to give to Susan and a thank you card for her to write.

Doreen had two large bouquets of flowers, one from each of her daughters. Susan was surprised too, as she had a large bouquet from her sister in addition to those from her mum, hence the flowermageddon in the title.

We enjoyed as small sweet sherry before lunch, Doreen had a Martini. By the time we’d finished the slow roast pork shoulder we were well and truly stuffed. This time even my crackling crackled nicely . We had the last of the parsnips and the last cabbage from the allotment.

There was no room for Susan’s trifle until we’d been out for a walk. Not the most pleasant of walks as by this time the sunny morning had slipped into a grey, cool, windy afternoon. On the plus side, there were very few people about.

The trifle was enjoyed with a cup of tea while watching The Crown - the episode based on the investiture of Charles as Prince of Wales.
