Courtship

I didn’t think I’d be participating in another challenge so soon after blipping seven in a row but today’s Mono Monday theme is Birds!! You know I can’t turn that down!! • In New England the outside world begins to awaken in March. This shot of the male and female house finch demonstrates this fact perfectly • During courtship and incubation the male feeds the female regurgitated food. Gulp! 5-7 days after mating she will lay an egg every morning for 2-6 days depending on the number of eggs; she will lay on these eggs for 13-14 days; after hatching both parents feed their nestlings regurgitated food. Yum! Their young leave the nest 12-15 days later. House finches average 2-3 broods per year! • Aren’t they amazing? • I wonder what we should have for dinner tonight? Lol!! • A shoutout to the Blackheath Blippers and Beckett for hosting today’s event ;)
